Many factors may get in the way of being effective interpersonally. Understanding factors that get in the way for you is an important way to identify what its getting in the way and then to be able to devise a plan to move forward and become more effective. This video discusses some common factors that can get in the way of being effective during interpersonal interactions.

1) Not having the interpersonal skills
2) Being unclear about what you want
3) Emotional reactions
4) Not focusing enough on long-term goals

6) Your thoughts and beliefs
As you watch this video, reflect on what may be getting in the way in being more effective interpersonally for you. Make sure not to judge yourself though! Just observe the interfering factor and then begin to formulate a plan for how you can become more effective. Then make a commitment to move forward and take steps to become more effective. It will not happen overnight, and with time and perseverance, you will find yourself becoming more effective interpersonally in your relationships with others.
